POD Provides Daily Water Supplies to Displacement Camps in Central and Southern Gaza

“For many displaced families, obtaining water can mean walking long distances for only a small portion of their daily needs.”

The Palestinian Organization for Development (POD) continues to implement water-supply activities across displacement camps in central and southern Gaza. The intervention aims to provide communities with regular access to safe water and reduce the health and protection risks associated with water shortages, contamination, and travelling long distances to collect limited quantities.

Tens of thousands of people benefit from the supplied water every day. For many families, this service reduces the need to walk for miles or wait for long periods to obtain only a small amount of water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and other essential household needs.

To support water safety and quality, periodic tests are conducted before use. These include measuring total dissolved solids (TDS), checking residual chlorine levels, and measuring the water’s pH. The results help verify that the supplied water meets the required health standards.

Through these activities, POD contributes to improving living and public-health conditions in displacement camps while supporting more reliable and dignified access to water.

What was achieved?

  • Tens of thousands of people receive water every day across displacement camps in central and southern Gaza. The intervention reduces long journeys to collect limited quantities of water, while regular quality tests support the safe delivery of water to targeted communities.
