POD Conducts the “Habal Alhaya” Psychosocial Support Session for Children

The Palestinian Organization for Development (POD) conducted a psychosocial support session titled “Habal Alhaya,” designed to help children reflect on the challenges they have experienced and identify the personal strengths that helped them move forward.

During the session, the children were invited to create and attach abstract symbols to a rope. Each symbol represented a difficulty or obstacle that the child had experienced and overcome. The rope served as a visual timeline through which the children could express their experiences without being required to describe them in detail.

The activity emphasized that overcoming a difficult experience does not mean removing or ignoring its impact. Instead, children were encouraged to recognize these experiences as part of their personal journey and as evidence of their ability to cope, adapt, and continue.

Through this structured and age-appropriate activity, POD provided children with a safe space for emotional expression, reflection, and recognition of their resilience.

What was achieved?

  • The session enabled children to express difficult experiences through abstract symbols in a safe and non-verbal way. It helped them identify challenges they had overcome, recognize their personal strengths, and understand past difficulties as part of their journey rather than as barriers to moving forward.
