Enhancing the psychological well-being of highly vulnerable children and women in the central governorate through the provision of selected and specialized psychosocial services and short-term temporary job opportunities for those most in need in the Gaza Strip. Approximately 80 graduates from various specializations, holding at least a bachelor's degree and aged between 20 and 40 years, benefited from these services. This initiative responds to the deteriorating social services sector due to the political and economic conditions in the Gaza Strip over many years. These services contribute to fostering a sense of belonging and integration into society, reducing social isolation, and enabling highly vulnerable individuals to feel their importance and value in the community, thereby enhancing their sense of effectiveness and personal worth.

The project aims to economically and socially empower community members in Gaza, particularly women and young people, including those with disabilities, by enhancing their capabilities and enabling them to enter the labor market as skilled workers or to establish and successfully grow sustainable businesses. Through targeted workforce training and entrepreneurship development services, the project will equip participants with the necessary skills to thrive in traditional, non-traditional, creative, and innovative sectors. By fostering employability and entrepreneurial potential, the initiative seeks to create a more inclusive and dynamic labor market, ensuring that by the end of the project, these individuals are well-prepared to contribute to the economic and social development of their communities, leading to a more prosperous and equitable future for all.

The Raising Under Employment: Deir AlBalah Families Creating and Empowering project aims to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable families and young children in the municipality of Deir AlBalah, Gaza Strip, by fostering a collaborative approach that involves local authorities, communities, and the socio-educational sector. Recognizing the challenges faced by these families, particularly in terms of underemployment and limited resources, this initiative seeks to empower them through targeted support and capacity-building efforts. Key components of the project include skills training and vocational education programs designed to enhance employability among adults and provide young people with the necessary skills to enter the job market. These programs will focus on high-demand sectors within the local economy, equipping participants with practical skills that align with community needs. By enhancing employability, the project aims to alleviate economic pressures on families, allowing them to achieve greater financial stability. In addition to vocational training, the project will establish community support networks to foster collaboration among local authorities, community organizations, and families. These networks will facilitate the sharing of resources, knowledge, and best practices, creating a cohesive approach to addressing the challenges of underemployment and supporting families in need. Regular meetings and workshops will be organized to encourage dialogue and collaboration, ensuring that all stakeholders are actively engaged in the empowerment process. To further support families, the initiative will also focus on enhancing access to essential services such as childcare, healthcare, and social support. By creating partnerships with local service providers, the project will help families navigate available resources and ensure they receive the support they need to thrive. This comprehensive approach will contribute to the overall well-being of children and their families, fostering a healthier community. The project will also emphasize raising awareness about the importance of shared responsibility in community development. Through community events and awareness campaigns, residents will be encouraged to take an active role in supporting one another and participating in local decision-making processes. By fostering a sense of ownership and collective responsibility, the initiative aims to strengthen community bonds and enhance resilience. Ultimately, the Raising Under Employment project aspires to create a sustainable and supportive environment for vulnerable families and young children in Deir AlBalah. By promoting skills development, fostering collaboration, and enhancing access to essential services, the initiative aims to empower families to overcome challenges, build resilience, and contribute positively to their community's development.

The Palestinian Organization for Development the COVID-19 Mitigation Project in the Gaza Strip, in partnership with the Palestinian Organization for Development and with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), from February 2022 to January 15, 2023. The project aimed to achieve two main objectives: first, to accelerate widespread and equitable access to safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines; and second, to reduce COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality, limit transmission, and strengthen health systems for prevention, detection, and response to pandemic threats. A significant number of residents from the Central Governorate benefited from the project’s activities. Approximately 2,313 individuals participated in health awareness sessions and received personal hygiene kits. Additionally, around 377 families were visited at home, where awareness sessions were conducted and hygiene kits were distributed. The project also hosted a Caritas medical clinic on a weekly basis, providing free screening and treatment for respiratory and influenza illnesses, as well as monitoring and medical care for COVID-19 patients. Furthermore, around 20 awareness messages were posted on the Authority’s social media platforms to promote COVID-19 awareness and encourage vaccination.

The project focuses on delivering comprehensive awareness programs that teach participants how to identify dangerous and unexploded objects, the necessary steps to take when such items are found, and the importance of staying away from them and reporting them to the appropriate authorities. The project equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to avoid hazards in areas affected by wars and conflicts, striving to create a safer environment by reducing injuries and accidents related to war remnants. Additionally, it contributes to raising community awareness about the importance of prevention and safe handling of these remnants, ensuring the protection of younger generations and the community as a whole from potential risks.
